The Paperless Office And The Cashless Shop Go To The Show

on October 05, 2022
And can't buy anything... Modern-day commerce, in Camera Electronic as well as every other shop and institution in the country, runs on cards, credit, EFTPOS, numbers, electricity ( it's in our name... ), and despair. It is only amongst train robbers and lemonade stand operators that cash is the sole instrument of trade. And you can sell a heck of a lot of lemonade with a revolver... Electronic trade over the internet - played out over several days or weeks - is generally pretty successful. Goods can be ordered, deposits taken, promises made, and notifications sent - and if you are not in a hurry, instant communications can be a relaxing and leisurely business. You're wise to do it with us or other shops here in town, as we do actually exist, and in our own premises. Our staff are human, and for much of their day are alive and talking. We are not a figment of the imagination or a phantom of the aether. Contrast this with the vast giants of Somewhere who may offer great bargains, but no real assurance that you will actually wake up with the sixpence. Few deals done on the net are really bad, but you only need to be on the brown end of the electronic stick once to know how much you wished you'd shopped locally. This writer has done well in CE, and knows it. Many of us have internet banking, and an equal share of convenience and anxiety thereby. Occasionally I have learned that I have been buying furniture in Florida and had to whip into the bank to stop the transaction. It is not the fear of the scammers and scamps that worries me - it is being confronted with the necessity of remembering which of the 30 passwords I have allows me to talk to the greeter in the bank. At least I remember his name... The best compromise seems to be to keep coins for the lemonade, bills for the train ride, and a card for the visit to Camera Electronic. As long as there is no thunderstorm at the time of your visit, the EFTPOS machines work pretty well. Cash always works.
