Now Is The Hour

on June 08, 2019
Actually, every hour is the hour...it just depends on what use you put it to. For today's exercise, we are going to assume you have decided to become Australia's next Master Landscape Photographer. You have a large camera, a wide lens, a sturdy tripod, and have invested in some excellent graduated neutral density filters. Now all you have to do is take these items to the seaside, mountainside, or rainforest and start making the masterpieces. How are you going to get that gear to that seaside? We suggest a plane, train, boat or car with space enough for a good big camera bag. That'll get you part of the way. Then you'll be hoofing it through the brambles, leeches, and headhunters for the final few kilometres.* Things will get heavy and jumbled, despite the camera bag. There will be dropping, and language, and dirt. And wouldn't it be just your luck to arrive at the best beach at the best time of the best day...and find a dirty great scratch on the surface of your graduated filter...the one you paid hundreds of dollars for...unkind fate... Defeat fate. Get in first. Grab one of the Mindshift filter cases before you even set out. Pick a large case with removable insert and colour-coded padded linings: Or travel lighter and smaller with the Mindshift Filter Hive Mini. same protection, smaller package. You know how much the filters help, and how much they cost. Do the smart thing now, and you can get to that Master Landscape Photographer prize with no expensive hitches. * I've been to Margaret River...
