How'dja Like A Black Eye...

on May 15, 2018
Well, show up at the Camera Electronic Murray Street Store and Chris or Dom will arrange it! Bang! Before you start to swell and fume, I hasten to add that the Black Eye to which I refer is a brand of accessory camera lens - not a circumorbital haematoma. If you want one of those you need to go to Northbridge after midnight. The Black Eye lenses are the sort of idea that went from " Why? " to " Why Not? " very quickly as the capability of the smart mobile phones increased. as you'll be perfectly aware, phones have lenses, sensors, recording circuit, and image editing apps galore these days. Dual, triple, and multiple lens phones exist, and the image quality that goes down onto the little sensors is astoundingly good.* But what about when the lens in the phone doesn't see wide enough - or close enough - or in enough detail for he scene. Enter Black eye accessories. You simply clip one of the appropriate lenses onto the phone - and we do mean clip - and film away. There are single variant lenses for Macro, 3 X Tele, Wide-screen cinema ratio, Full-frame fisheye, and a number of kits that allow you have a selection at your fingertips. These are not big lenses - even with the clip-on attachment they fit in a top pocket or a purse. They are not heavy. You just snap them on and start photographing. They are also not wallet-breakers - single lenses can be under $ 50. For those people who like to use their iPads or other tablets for shooting - or who make use of the inbuilt lenses on laptops, the clip-on attachment works just as well. It's like a little studio in your handbag. For the quick communicators amongst us, the things will be a blessing - they can make a polished image right there in their electronic device and fire it out to the world straight away. I envy them their speed - it takes me hours here at the editorial desk to cut, sand, drill, and polish the average picture so that it can be included in the weblog column. And waiting for the pixels to dry in the winter months can take just ages... So...so go see Dom or Chris at Murray Street and take your phone or tablet with you. Clip on one of the Black Eyes and do some test shots. Have a look to see how much better your pictures of your lunch will look on Instagram. * And it gets even better when you use your smart mobile phone to ring up Camera Electronic and order a mirrorless camera, a DSLR, or an entire medium format camera system....
