Just as we found out the good news about the Nikon Z6 camera being great for video conferencing, we looked into our stocks of other accessories and found that we have a very good web cam for those not using Nikon. You'll forgive the slightly science fiction appearance when you see how well it presents a 16/9 image onto your screen. The NanoShield 920 HD 1080P Autofocus is easily fixable at the top of your screen or to a standard 1/4" tripod mount. The small ball mount lets you centre and level it and then all you need to do is light yourself in an attractive manner and speak into the in-built microphone. 1080p FHD at 30 frames per second. Just plug and play Try to look at the lens when you're talking to others instead of at yourself on your own screen - your eyes engage your listener far better that way. If it seems an odd thing to get used to, get a " Wilson " volleyball from Rebel Sport and prop it behind the screen...

Hear Hear! The German Sennheiser firm has now arrived at 75 years producing very high-quality microphones, headphones, and other audio accessories. To celebrate a real milestone for consumers, they are promoting their HD280 PRO headphones at a considerable discount. It looks as though they will be selling out ( and probably fast, too ) for some $ 30 under normal retail price from $169 to $139. The HD 280 PRO is designed for DJ work as well as standard home audio enjoyment. The DJ's need a very comfortable set of soft ear cushions that completely cover the ears and attenuate external sounds to a high degree. Parents with teenagers will also appreciate this idea...

K. FILM BACK IN STOCK Well, hooray. There is a grand array of film stocks back in the fridges at both Murray and Stirling Streets. 35,mm black and white, colour negative and colour transparency. 120 ditto. Kodak, Fujifilm, Ilford and more. No need to stint yourself or husband old supplies - get out there with your analog camera and shoot away. When the digital shooters' hard drives go up in smoke you can sit there looking at your negs and slides in their protective sheets and laugh and laugh. While they are searching for a power plug to charge up their ailing battery you can be out there shooting the sunset. And the bragging rights at the next camera club meet-up. Well...

J. TRANSFER YOUR MOVIES   The writer of this newsletter is particularly interested in this item; the shop now has a service to transfer historic motion pictures to digital format. I've got Standard 8 reels taken of myself at 1-year old that are as good now as they were then - that's Kodachrome for you. But my daughter may never have seen them as out old projectors have bitten the dust. Time has come to transfer these - as well as the Puper 8 reels from the 60's and 70's to a good playable digital video format. Given the amount of movie cameras that were sold in Perth in the film era, I'll bet there are a lot of people in this position - history there unseen in their hands. Time to see it and make sure that the grandkids see it too, while you are there to explain what's going on. Come talk to us at Stirling Street or Murray Street and let's get started. You can also purchase, and start the process on our website too. Here's a list of services and pricing:...

I. LEICA'S LATEST CAMERAS If ever you are disconsolate and need a small boost to your photographic mojo, we suggest you come in and buy a Leica camera and lens. It is amazing how a little thing like this can brighten up the whole day. Your new best bets for this sort of a boost are the Leica SL2 and the Leica M10- Monochrom. In a sense, they are bothe mirrorless cameras, though there are a few little mirrors in the rangefinder mechanism of the M10-Monochrom. But they do not impinge on the light path from lens to sensor. The two cameras are quite different in concept, however - the SL2 is a thoroughly modern form of mirrorless body with the L-series of lenses. It's 47.3 megapixels on a full-frame CMOS sensor and an in-body stabilisation system to fine-tune every lens. Full 4K for videographers. Full metal housing with a leather wrap. 3-button control layout. You cannot be more modern. And the Leica M10-Monochrom? Well, step back a bit with us to 1954, pick up a Leica M3 35mm film camera and a roll of...

H. RØDE ACCESSORY PACK PROMO Okay, we need a little background to this. Let's start with a note that, like Black Magic, Røde is a great Australian company. The Scandinavian ø in the name comes from the family history of the founders but the firm is in Sydney. The product around which the promotion is based is the RØdecaster Pro production desk - a complete little podcaster studio in one box. It is wonderful. It allows four presenters to fight with each other in one studio while the operator looks on aghast, and records the fracas on MicroSD card or passes it directly into a computer. 8 sliders, 4 XLR inputs, and provision to add jingles and music to cover up the screams. Easy connectivity to phones USB, and bluetooth for when you want it to all get well out of hand. Joking aside - this is a wonderful centre for modern podcasting production - and Røde are offering an accessory pack to make it even better for $ 20. You get: TRRS cable for connecting mobile devices. USB power cable to run it. Colour coded XLR...

The app is compatible with iPhones and Android phones in their newer forms, and is available from the App Store and the Google Play Store. So what can it do when you use it with Profoto lights? Smartphone tutorials there in the app to watch on your phone. Remote control the flash settings on the Profoto units from your phone if you are usung them in conjunction with a DSLR or mirror-less camera. Easy firmware updates for your Profoto devices...
