Carlos's Pick

on February 03, 2019
I watch Carlos closely. He has good ideas and knows what he is doing. He takes good photographs. He speaks well. If he gets to be any more successful I may have to stab him. This is the photo trade after all... But until then I shall listen to his advice - and he just mentioned that he is going to get himself a new set of legs. Tripod legs. Small tripod legs - see the heading image. You'll have seen a report earlier about Leofoto miniature tripods and ball heads. This is a new development of the leg portion and there may well be new heads coming. These legs are about the same size as the previous set, but there is a secret - if you reach under them you can unfold the lower half of the leg and lock it in place. and that uncovers the other smart idea the makers have put into the design; the lightening holes up each of the three legs are actually threaded sockets. These are standard 1/4" threads so you can screw in any number of accessories like microphones, triggers, etc. to them. This is very well made - you almost want to buy it for the jewel-like precision or the finish. The accountant approves of you buying it, no matter what motive. But it is an ideal companion on the sort of trip where they want to charge you excess baggage. Small, light, and sturdy. When Carlos decides which ball head he will mount on the top of the leg, I'll let you know.
