Being Smart When I'm Not

on October 10, 2018
I have come to accept the need for aids in living. I'm not at the stage yet where I'll need an ear trumpet or a wooden leg, but the time cannot be far away. I already need aids to the memory - whenever I enter a room with a vague expression on my face the family has been trained to shout out " Now what have you lost? ". Sometimes they stop what they are doing and help me to find whatever it is, and sometimes they just push me back out of the room...When it gets really bad they push me out the front door and change the locks. I am going to get help - I'm going to buy a set of the Tile Mate trackers from Camera Electronic. They are a small battery-powered fink that you attach to your keys, wallet, phone, or other loseable valuable. Then you install an app in either your phone or someone else's that calls out to the fink and lets you know where it is. You'll be able to find the wallet down the back of the sofa cushion or the car keys in the bin within a radius of 45 metres. If you've let stuff get further away than that, the app will show you the last known place and you can go from there - other people in the Tile network may come within range of your lost goods and their machines will enable the system to update this last location. Eventually you should be able to track down anything short of Judge Crater. Not expensive, and a present from Heaven when you are constantly laying things aside in a really, really safe place. Plus it prevents you from looking forgetful in front of the family. If they lock you out it will be for other reasons. PS: you can change the batteries yourself after a year of operation.
