One More Visit To The Barbershop

on November 30, 2017
Do they do it to you ? They do it to me - every time. I sit down in the chair and the barber asks me how I want my hair done. " Tapered back - quite short, please " is my standard answer. Then they ask me whether they should use clippers or scissors...and what number comb on the clippers. I have no idea. I'm a customer, not a barber. I'm just the hairy head and they're the miniature lawnmower guys. I can't remember from one haircut to the next what combination of numbers I need. Just cut, and stop when it starts to bleed. In the future I'm going to carry a picture of Admiral Scheer and refer them to that. But on to the barbershop bags in the Murray Street premises. There is a new stand for them, halfway down the shop. It is as old-fashioned, in a nice way, as the bag themselves. The unique feature is the special mirror built into the right-hand side of the stand. It swivels out to allow you to see how you look with the bag slung over your shoulder. The mirror has been calibrated and adjusted to only reflect the images of handsome and good-looking people. I know, I tried it. I noticed that I needed a haircut...
