Nikon Announcements

on August 24, 2011
I'm not sure about all the other Nikon users out there but the anticipation leading up to the Nikon announcements overnight was pretty high for me (Emily). Was there going to be a D800 or a D4 or something else new and exciting?!?!

Instead, Nikon announced 8 new editions to their Coolpix range. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it isn't exciting that there are 8 new cameras to the Nikon range but I wanted to hear about the DSLR range - we've been waiting for ever!!!! Ok, rant over!

So, for those interested in the new Coolpix range here's the brief rundown.....

Coolpix P7100
This is the replacement for the P7000. It will provide users with clearer, sharper images and less in-camera processing, meaning quicker response times. There has also been the inclusion of special effects programs and HD video with stereo sound.

Coolpix S8200
Replacing the S8100, users will see an increased pixel count to 16megapixels and the inclusion of a 14x zoom.

Coolpix S6200
Oh the colours - pink, red, blue - take your pick!!! With 16megapixels, a 10x zoom, this small compact camera now has one of the highest powered optical zooms in it's class.

Coolpix S100
Successor to the S80, a slim-line camera that now includes a 3D photography function and full HD movie capture capability.

Coolpix S1200pj
Provides the unique feature of having an in-built projector that can be utilised with iPad, iPhone or iPod via a dedicated cable.

Coolpix AW100 and AW100s
The first in a new series of waterproof, shockproof and coldproof cameras with extras such as GPS functionality.
